Instead, they are talking to Gemini using voice commands, relying on the AI helper to write school papers, generate music, create digital art, and organize their daily schedules.
Google designed Gemini to adapt to local cultures and languages across Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. "We have always believed that AI works best when it blends seamlessly into your daily routine and speaks your language," Google stated. This localized approach has quickly turned the app from a novelty into an essential daily tool.
Google is rolling out Gemini Spark to help users automate their workflows. Previously limited to English, the tool is now launching in local languages for Gemini Advanced subscribers.
Gemini Spark acts as a background assistant. It integrates directly with Google Workspace apps like Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Slides, running tasks even when your laptop is closed or your phone screen is locked. This shifts Gemini from a reactive search tool to an active productivity assistant.
Other features are also making their way to the region. This includes Nano Banana for image creation, Canvas for deep research, and Gems. Gems allow users to save repetitive instructions, like a weekly planner setup, so they do not have to re-enter them every time.
Even Google’s own engineers rely heavily on these tools. According to Alphabet, more than 25% of the company's new code is now generated by AI before being reviewed and refined by human engineers. Google's teams use Gemini to write new app features, debug code, and summarize development notes, reportedly cutting code update times in half. "We use these tools ourselves every single day," Google stated.

Data privacy remains a critical hurdle for enterprise and consumer adoption. Google emphasizes that enterprise customers retain full ownership of their data. Customer data is never used to train public AI models or target advertisements.

Network administrators can also block unapproved AI tools and route Gemini traffic through secure, private connections.
On the cybersecurity front, Google is leveraging AI to detect and mitigate threats. The system analyzes billions of security events in seconds, automatically writing defense rules and isolating compromised devices before an attack can spread.
Ultimately, Google aims to position Gemini as the most capable and secure assistant for Southeast Asia's 600 million residents. As Google noted in its announcement, "We are excited to keep building an AI that is personal, proactive, and secure."
